12 | Two years of The Quiet is Loud
AKA WTF is even time?
This month marked two years since The Quiet is Loud was published. It feels wrong, somehow. Has two years really gone by so quickly?
The answer is yes, of course it has. Once you get like older than 12 life flies by at increasingly ridiculous speed. I turned 43 last month but I swear I’m still 35. But we’re not here to talk about my existential crisis, we’re here to talk about TQIL.
On Instagram, I shared some behind-the-scenes facts about certain components of the book - no major spoilers, but I always like when authors say what inspired certain book elements, so I thought it’d be a good way to celebrate two years.
And last May I wrote a couple of things reflecting on my first year of being a published author: “Things I Didn’t Know About Publishing a First Book Until I Published My First Book” on my publisher’s blog; and a little thing on Instagram as usual.
It’s also fitting to note that in May 2022 the German translation of The Quiet is Loud was officially announced, and over the weekend I saw that it’s now up on the publisher Piper Verlag’s site. Just a few months left! It’s really amazing that my book is being translated at all, let alone in my brother’s second language and the first language of some of my family. Freya herself would approve of this particular weaving of fate.
Thanks for reading,
- Sg.
